ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14 THE A66 TRUNK ROAD (SCOTCH CORNER TO GRETA BRIDGE) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14 THE A66 TRUNK ROAD (SCOTCH CORNER TO GRETA BRIDGE) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited has made an Order on the A66 Trunk Road, in County Durham and the County of North Yorkshire, to enable carriageway resurfacing, road marking, vegetation clearance post and rail fence erection works to be carried out in safety.

The works are expected to start on Sunday 22 September 2019 for 4 nights, or until completed.

The effect of the Order will be, for 24 hours a day, at times during the works, to:

(i) impose a temporary 40mph, and at times a 10mph speed restriction on the A66 eastbound and westbound carriageways from 330 metres west of Dick Scot Lane to 530 metres east of Moor Lane, a distance of 3115 metres; and



(ii) impose an overtaking ban and close all laybys adjacent to the above length of A66 as described in (i).



It will also be necessary, between 8pm and 6am, at times during the works, to ban vehicles from entering and leaving the A66 at its junction with:

(iii) Collier Lane Junction;



(iv) Waitlands Lane;



(v) New Lane;



(vi) the access road leading to Fox Hall Inn;



(vii) the access road leading to Fox Hall Cottage;



(viii) the access road leading to Fox Grove; and



(ix) the access road leading to Foxwell Cottage.



During the carriageway and junction closures, suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times.

The Order comes into force on 21 September 2019 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.

THE A66 TRUNK ROAD (THORPE GRANGE TO SEDBURY)

(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited intends to make an Order on the A66 Trunk Road, in the Counties of North Yorkshire and Durham, to enable signage and vegetation works to be carried out in safety.

The works are expected to start on Sunday 13 October 2019 for 2 weeks, or until completed.

The effect of the Order will be, at times during the works, between 8pm and 6am to:

(i) impose a temporary 50mph, 40mph and at times 10mph speed restriction on the A66 from 1000 metres east of the B6274 Winston Crossroads to 1300 metres west of Lanehead Lane Junction, a distance of 9640 metres. The 10mph limit will only apply when, for safety reasons, traffic has to be escorted through the works by a highway maintenance vehicle;



(ii) impose an overtaking ban on the above mentioned (i); and



(iii) ban vehicles from entering or leaving the A66 at its junctions adjacent to the above mentioned (i).



It will be necessary, for 24 hours a day, for the duration of the works, to close;

(iv) close all laybys adjacent to (i); and



(v) close the laybys adjacent to the A66 eastbound carriageway approximately 2160 metres west of Lanehead Lane Junction, and westbound carriageway approximately 700 metres west of the A1 Scotch Corner Junction; which will be used as abnormal load holding areas.



The Order comes into force on 12 October 2019 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.

Traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes). Access will be maintained at all times to premises and property which are accessible from, and only from, the A66.
