ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14 THE A66 TRUNK ROAD (SCOTCH CORNER ROUNDABOUT) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways
England Company Limited has made an
Order on the A66 Trunk Road, in the County
of North Yorkshire, to enable sign renewal and
replacement works to be carried out in safety.
The works are expected to start on Monday
17 June 2019 for 4 weeks, or until completed,
and will take place overnight between 8pm
The effect of the Order will be to impose, for the duration of the works, a temporary, 50mph, 40mph and, at times, 10mph speed restriction on the A66 eastbound and westbound carriageways from 2500 metres west of Scotch Corner Roundabout to 12900 metres west of Scotch Corner Roundabout, a distance of 10400 metres. The 10mph limit will only apply when, for safety reasons, traffic has to be escorted through the works by a highway maintenance vehicle. It will also be necessary to close, for the duration of the works, the layby situated adjacent to the A66:
(i) eastbound carriageway approximately 170 metres east of its junction with Moor Lane;
(ii) eastbound carriageway approximately 443 metres east of its junction with Dick Scot Lane.
Traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles, vehicles being used in connection with the said works or winter maintenance purposes).
