IT was spine-tingling to hear the unmistakable voice of the Little Waster across the auditorium as his original costumes hung on dummies on the stage before us.

The late Bobby Thompson is something of a legend in these parts, but not so well known elsewhere in the country, probably because foreigners' couldn't understand his accent.

His material was based on his own life of debt, drink and relationships with his wife and the mother-in-law and he achieved major success in the 1950s on the club circuit and with the BBC radio show, Wot Cheor Geordie.

Peter Peverley faithfully recreates the most memorable parts of his act, using Thompson's costumes, and acts as compere to tell his life story.

His woodbine-smoking, selfdeprecating, face-pulling act is still funny and had several generations roaring with laughter throughout this clever and well put together show.
