Gael Garcia Bernal is set to star in the reboot of Zorro
Gael Garcia Bernal is to play the lead in the Zorro reboot.
The Motorcycle Diaries star will take over as the swashbuckling hero, previously played by Antonio Banderas in two movies, in a new futuristic version called Zorro Reborn, reports Variety.
The new film will see the swordsman in a post-apocalyptic future, rather than his usual historical California/Mexico setting.
Zorro was created by pulp fiction writer Johnston McCulley and inspired television series, comics, and most famously a series of films starring Douglas Fairbank in the 1920s and the movies starring Banderas.
The Spanish actor starred in The Mask Of Zorro in 1998 and he reprised the role in the 2005 sequel The Legend Of Zorro.
