THE Singha Premiership Rugby Sevens will return to the North-East this summer, with Newcastle Falcons’ Kingston Park confirmed as the venue for the Group D pool stage on July 30.
It is the third year in succession that the competition has visited the region, with Falcons set to face Leicester Tigers, Sale Sharks and Worcester Warriors.
With Falcons having won every group stage they have contested to date, North-East fans can expect to see an action-packed afternoon.
Sevens rugby will be in the limelight this summer, with the shortest form of the game making its Olympic debut in Rio, and the Singha Premiership Rugby Sevens is the only competition featuring all 12 Aviva Premiership clubs as well as the four Welsh professional regions.
In addition to Kingston Park, this year’s competitions will also see rounds staged at Exeter’s Sandy Park and Northampton’s Franklins Gardens, with the final scheduled for Wasps’ Ricoh Arena.
