Newcastle youngster signs one-year deal
NEWCASTLE Falcons have secured the signature of another of their brightest prospects, with scrum-half Micky Young signing a new one-year deal to stay at Kingston Park.
The 19-year-old made his Guinness Premiership debut eight days ago against London Irish, and is rated among the best young scrum-halves in the country.
Acting Falcons director of rugby Steve Bates, a former England scrum half himself, said: "Micky is a player that this club is very excited about.
"As well as being an extremely skilful player in all the areas you would expect from a scrum-half, he is a naturally fierce competitor with a real tough streak to his game.
"In Micky, I see a lot of the same combative qualities as a player like Gary Armstrong, which is high praise indeed, and I look forward to seeing him continue his development within the Falcons system."
Born and raised in Hartlepool, Young is currently a student at Northumbria University. This season he helped Tynedale to the National Division Three North title, scoring the try which secured their promotion to National Division Two.
