Darlington capture Nelthorpe
DARLINGTON have completed the signing of Doncaster Rovers midfielder Craig Nelthorpe on a one-month loan.
With today's 5pm transfer deadline looming, manager Dave Penney made his move for the 20-year-old.
The left-sided player joined Doncaster from non-league Frickley and worked under Penney during his time as Rovers boss.
However, Nelthorpe has found first-team chances at the Keepmoat Stadium difficult to come by this season. He returned from a loan spell from Halifax earlier this month, having made seven appearances for the Conference side.
Nelthorpe becomes Darlington's 14th loan signing of the season and goes straight into the squad for Saturday's clash with Bradford City.
Darlington have also extended the loans of Jason Kennedy and Ben Parker until the end of the season.
Kennedy and Parker will be available for Darlington's remaining games this season, including the play-offs, should Quakers finish outside the top three.
However, Penney today revealed that midfielder Bryan Hodge, on loan from Blackburn, will not be available if Quakers finish in the play-off places.
Hodge can play the remaining seven games of the season, but his 93-day emergency loan period will have expired by the time the play-offs get underway.

What a surprise another ex Doncaster player......Why another midfield player, i thought with the injurie to Abbott we would have gone for a proven striker. With the budget we had at the begining of the season we should have been able to recruit the players we needed. When we get promoted then we will have to buy a complete team as all the loan players will have gone back. Is this young lad Nelthorpe one for the future or to get us promoted ? Surley with him been from none league can he have the experience to do the latter.

A left sided midfielder which would allow Richie Foran to play upfront where he'll be most effective for the run in

Then we could have used Valentine who i thought was outstanding against Morcombe. He moved into a left sided midfield position after the substitutions on Saturday.
