Marske United manager Carl Jarrett is hoping that they will maintain their impressive away record when they go to Bracknell for their Buildbase FA Vase quarter final on Saturday afternoon.

The seasiders have won away in the Vase already this season at Darwen and Runcorn, while they’ve only lost one of their nine away games in the Northern League, so an away game at Bracknell, who are unbeaten at home in the Hellenic League this season, doesn’t really worry them.

“I think it’s a very tough draw,” said Jarrett. “We’ve got a couple of reports on them, and we know that they’re a good outfit, but that’s what we would expect at this stage of the competition anyway. We know that they shouldn’t be taken lightly.

“We’re going there pretty confident. We’ve played some tough games to get here – not least the away game at Darwen when the game was re-arranged at 24 hours’ notice.

“We haven’t conceded a goal yet this year, but we won’t be changing our style of play and going all defensive -- we’re going down there intending to win.”

Bracknell play on a 3G surface, but that won’t worry Marske. “We train on a 3G surface every week, while we haven’t lost on one for three seasons, so I don’t think 3G matters at all. We like to get the ball down and play, so hopefully it will suit us.”

Jarrett will probably make several changes to the side that beat Shildon last week, when Bracknell sent a tv crew to watch them.

Key midfielders Craig Gott and Chay Liddle, plus defenders Leon Carling, Lee Brockbank and Liam O’Sullivan will all return. Recent signing Andrew Stephenson, who was part of the South Shields and Spennymoor Vase winning squads, is also included..
