Shildon manager Danny Moore wants his team to improve their home form ahead of their game against fourth placed Marske United at Dean Street on Saturday.

The Railwaymen have excellent away form having won nine away games in league and FA Cup this season, but even though they are also unbeaten at home, they have drawn four out of their five league matches to put them in fifth place.

“We need to improve our recent results at home, we’ve dropped too many points recently. We need to win home games to keep the pressure on the teams above us,” said Moore. Shildon drew 0-0 with Newton Aycliffe in midweek, but they’re still unbeaten in all competitions this season.

Moore will choose from an unchanged squad today, although he could give striker Adam Burnicle a place in the starting line up after resting him in midweek.

Meanwhile, Shildon’s hopes of live streamed coverage of their away FA Cup tie at Guiseley next week have been dashed because the National League club have turned down the BBC’s approach.

West Auckland have a tricky home game with Stockton Town, who have climbed steadily up the league after losing their first eight league games of the season.

West lost 5-1 at home to Dunston in midweek to drop down to sixth in the table, and manager Gary Forrest, who has a full squad to choose from, said; “We’re obviously looking for a reaction. We have a young inexperienced side that possibly has a little too much expectation on its shoulders. We fully realise that we have gaps within our squad. We need to be patient and wait for the correct players to become available as opposed to make rash decisions for a quick fix. West was not built in a day.”

Newton Aycliffe are hoping to build on their good midweek point at Shildon when they face Ryhope CW at Moore Lane.

Manager Deano Browne has a squad of 16 players to choose from for the first time this season, with striker Stuart Banks returning after a hamstring injury.

“Hopefully we’ll have a big crowd on Non League Day” he said. “We go into the game with a bit of confidence after the last three performances, but I know Ryhope will be a tough test and are a team in form.”

Bishop Auckland have a big task at league leaders Morpeth Town, and they will give a debut to midfielder Shaun Ryder, who has signed from Consett.

Morpeth have lost just once in twelve league games this season, and are four points clear at the top of the table after their 3-1 win over Newcastle Benfield on Thursday night.

In the second division, third placed Northallerton can reduce the gap on leaders Tow Law by beating Chester-le-Street at Ainderby Road. Aaron Ramsbottom, Andy Shepherd, Liam Jarvie and Matty Dixon will all return to the team after missing last week’s 2-2 draw at Willington, but Shaun Hudson will have a fitness test and Josh Keogh is out because of suspension.

Northallerton are giving free admission to children as long as they are accompanied by an adult.

Chester-le-Street, who are third bottom, welcome back seven players who missed the victory over Esh Winning last week. Manager Colin Wake said; “This game will be a big test for the improved form that we have shown recently. Northallerton are playing well and are deservedly in the top three. We go there with improved confidence.”

Bottom club Darlington RA need the points at home to Blyth, who are fourth in the table. Keeper Phil Pentony returns to the squad, along with Jamie Hind, and manager Peter Mulcaster said; “This will be a hard game for us.”

The RA are a point below Alnwick Town, and two below Chester-le-Street.

Esh Winning are at home to Ryton and Crawcrook, hoping to maintain their tenth position in the table. Top scorer Callum Boakes returns to the squad along with Chris Mordue and Scott Arnott, but Nick Marley and Mark Fish are both missing.

“We hope to have a better team performance this weekend against a good side,” said manager Tony Boakes.

Durham City are at home to fifth placed Whickham at Hall Lane, looking to build on their 5-3 win over Crook Town last week. However, they will be missing Ross Simpson, Ste Malloy, Jeremy Allen, Sam Joyce and Kieran Harnett are all unavailable due to injury, but Adam Crathorne, Josh Rodgers and Craig Hennis all return to the squad.

Brandon, who are sixth bottom, are at home to Easington, and they welcome Michael Searby, Luke Thompson and Reece Marshall back to the squad, but on the other hand they are missing Tom Goundry, Niall Fingleton, Adam Pearson and Kyle Wren.

First Division Washington have signed 38 year old former Spurs and Newcastle full back Pascal Chimbonda, who was part of the France World Cup squad in 2006. He will make his debut at home to Penrith this afternoon.
