Hamilton union position wrong - Stewart
Sir Jackie Stewart has labelled Lewis Hamilton's decision not to join the Grand Prix Drivers' Association (GPDA) as "completely wrong".
Hamilton claims his decision not to join is because he has "so much going on", but former world champion Jackie Stewart is a firm believer that all drivers should support the association that has done so much for driver safety.
Stewart has been at the centre of significant changes regarding driver safety including the introduction of fireproof overalls and emergency medical facilities, both during his career and after.
It has been 14 years since the tragic loss of Ayrton Senna at San Marino but Stewart believes complacency has set in among drivers such as Hamilton and current world champion Kimi Raikkonen, who is also not a member of the GPDA.
"So far we have been incredibly lucky," said Stewart, who won the world title in 1969, 1971 and 1973.
"We are on the slate to have a big shunt. But what is going to happen is this - somebody is going to get killed."
