McLaren still has work to do

Lewis Hamilton's team still has work to do if the Brit is to have a fighting chance against the Ferrari juggernaut.

He may have finished a few seconds off Massa's pace in Spain but Kimi had plenty in reserve.

In-car camera footage showed Hamilton sawing at the steering correcting the back end every lap.

It may have looked dramatic but the wayward behaviour does nothing for tyre wear.

The development and testing weeks between Bahrain and Spain were most instructive.

McLaren worked hard to close the gap on the red cars but,come the race, the red cars were well on top.

Kimi said: "All the things we've brought onto the track worked out just fine and we also improved the speed of the car..

"We had already made some changes to the set-up in the test session last week and we were really satisfied with the outcome."

No wonder. Race weekends don't come much easier.

"Now the car is also working on the fast (qualifying) lap as I want it to work."

But the Finn said he was taking nothing for granted and knew that not every weekend would be as smooth as Catalunya - although he does feel he is capable of fighting for victory at every race this year.

"There's a long road to go and I know very well that we are not going to have weekends like the one we had at Barcelona every time," said Raikkonen.

"Obviously there will be difficulties, but we have a strong car and the speed to try to win in every race."
