TOP-CLASS rallycross will return to the region later this year after Croft Circuit was selected to host the prestigious British Rallycross Grand Prix on Sunday, November 6.

The event will mark the popular sport's return to North Yorkshire after a two-year absence and the event will feature some of the best drivers from Europe taking on their British and Irish counterparts.

As well as hosting the Grand Prix on the Sunday, Croft will also host the final round of the Quaife MSA British Rallycross Championship on Saturday, November 5.

Expectations are high for an event that will feature supercars capable of producing in excess of 500bhp and accelerating quicker than a Formula One car.

The leading northern contenders will be Kevin Procter from nearby Leeming Bar, who is a former Superprix winner and will be one of the favourites in his Ford Focus, and Newcastle's David Binks who will be hoping to wrap up the British title.

Leading lights in the Swift Sport Rallycross Championship are Northallerton duo Dave Bellerby and Jonny Bean.

Support races over the weekend include the British Rallycross Championship Supercar and SuperNational categories and all the BRC support classes including Swift Sport Juniors, Hot Hatch, BMW Minis and RX150s.

Adult ticket prices are £8 on the Saturday and £15 on the Sunday or £18 for a weekend ticket.
