Darlington & D.M.C. Trial, Oxnop, Gunnerside, Sunday

DAN THORPE won the Darlington club's trial at Gunnerside on Sunday beating his major Reeth Three Day Trial rival Richard Sadler be a mere three penalties in what was a final shake-down before the Three Day battle.

Eight riders contended the event, in ten different classes. The Oxnop course featured eleven sections with the Green course attracting twenty seven starters. Ironically Katy Sunter, better known as Mrs Dan Thorpe eclipsed twenty clubman category riders.

The former Healaugh trialler made history at the recebt Bemorse trial by winning the same class while her husband won the expert class, and the trial. Heating engineer Andy Tales just toped the Green course runners, a single penalty ahead of Darton motorcycle dealer Tony Kaye with Masham Sausages supremo Paul Dennis hoping both would falter.

They did not oblige.

Scarborough D.M.C. 4th championship trial, Low North Park, Harwood Dale. Saturday

SCARBOROUGH ran their fourth club trial at Low North Park on Saturday but even with an entry of more than sixty riders, it still proved a struggle getting observers.

It was only thanks to Nicola Dixon who rode round the course fast - still managing to finish joint first with Trevor Jones on white route - before taking over observing for Mick Tanton to enable him to ride the event.

Leavening's Adam Milner, riding his TRS machine, was the only expert and won his class. Scarborough's Gary Collinson took the Inter class win comfortably, but finished one mark behind son Zac`s score of twenty five lost who won Youth A. Nikita Smith from Fryup Dale, grabbed second place in the Inters ahead of Danny Gamble.

Eboracum M.C. Club championship trial, Hobb House, Rosedale, Sunday

GAS Gas rider Olly Kendra tightened his grip on retaining his 2016 Eboracum Club championship on Sunday when taking his third win in the series at the clubs Hob House Farm venue at Rosedale.

With young blood and a fresh pair of eyes involved within the club, Clerk of course Will Wainwright and helpers flagged a four lap, ten section course which proved spot on for every class and although struggling for observers, managed well on the day.

Kendra had Peter Sharp to deal with in this one, but Sharp hit trouble in among the rocks of the old Colonial sections losing four each on six and seven as Kendra extended his lead here with consistent rides, just one lost on each.

Ripon Motor Club, 5th Acklams Beta trial, Galloway Pastures, Greenhow, Saturday

GALLOWAY Pastures gave way to rain and dense fog on Saturday afternoon as members of the Ripon Motor Club marked a the fifth Acklams Beta trial course high on the hills above Nidderdale on Saturday afternoon.

The seventeen small wheels contestants fired up, or switched, on as the case would be, to ride a compact four lap five section course that took in some shallow streams and several tricky grass bankings.

Ashley Watson headed the Electric class while eight year old Martha Dennis concentrated on keeping a boots on the pegs to head Joseph Kendall and taker second place to the distant Ashley Watson.

Tony Calvert cleaned the over 50 class, Les Richardson was under threat and had to win the Over 40 division as Miss Amber Richardson was in actions on the easy Youth course.

The old boy got round on seven, matched by Nick Royle. Rob Bratley matched Mr Calvert and top youth Ryan Brown just about matched them but for a dab, in the last section right behind Bees catering van, the Bellerby teenager probably got a sniff of the grub.
