DARLINGTON stunt driver, Paul Swift is returning to the sport of autotesting this weekend in his classic Mini Cooper.

The Ken Wharton International Autotest takes place at the Arrow Mill Hotel, Alcester in Warwickshire.

It's the 60th Anniversary of the event run by Hagley and District Light Car Club.

The event comprises of four teams each representing five nations - England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Each team has to have a Mini, a sports car, a large saloon and a special.

The team with the lowest number of seconds taken to complete all of the tests wins.

Swift, who runs Paul Swift Precision Driving and was a regularly performed as part of the BBC's Top Gear programme, said: "I was invited by the Scotland team captain, Gordon Clendinning, to join his team. He has inspired a resurgence over the border this last year and it's very fitting they should be represented at the 60th anniversary. I was delighted to be asked and hope to put on a good performance.

"The competition will be very hot, it's the highlight of the year for all the competitors. The sport has seen a lot of technical development over the past few years so we all need to be on our 'A game' to stand a chance."
