RICHMOND Motor Club's Forresters Trial ran at Town Foot Farm, near Carlton, last Sunday, when 82 competitors of all ages and sizes enjoyed a mild three-lap, 12-section day of Coverdale trialling set out by clerk of course Chris Dale and assistant Dan Dent.

They had selected five sections in the almost dry Cat Gill, where the flat slabs of rock bed were initially grippy. The other sections were way up the meadow, where the wind was almost gale-force.

Micklethwaite Gill featured seven sections and it was there that the marks were flowing, although Simon Williamson never noticed any of the sections as he cleaned the course on his pristine Montesa.

Bellerby boy Ryan Brown cleaned the entire Cat Gill, but dropped two marks in the first of the Micklethwaite group. His efforts were rewarded with the Forresters Trophy.

Dan and Ben Hodgson and Robert Weatherill dropped marks in the 11th, where farmer Tim Brown flew up on his 175 Scorpa.

Thanks went to landowners Peter Dinsdale, Andrew Dent, John Simpson and Ron Suttill, and all at the Forresters Arms, after the trial.

WITH the sun beating down, riders competed at Low North Park at the Scarborough Youth Two-Day Trial last weekend.

After riding four laps of 10 sections each day, flagged by Dave Chilton and helpers, young Reece Gazzard headed a strong Youth B class on the hard route from Aaron Carter and Adam Juffs.

Sam Yeomans topped the expert class with an outstanding ride of just one and four marks lost over the two days, which Dan Hemingway couldn't match, although he was playing minder for sons Harry and George. He was followed home by the talented Zac Sherwin and Joe Faunthorpe.

On Sunday morning, Yeomans hit the same consistency to pull further ahead. Toby Shaw pulled ahead in Youth D after finishing level overnight with Alex Horne on three each.

EMMA Bristow clinched the 2016 ACU Acklam Beta Ladies' Championship at Longframlington last Sunday, with the eighth round of the championship still to run in November.

Skeeby's Chloe Richardson and Hurworth's Beth Waite are ranked eighth and ninth respectively.

Three girls have dominated Class A this year and it couldn't be much closer at the top, with just one point separating Alicia Robinson and Gabby Whitham after the latter won on Saturday. Her 17 marks lost gave her a one-mark win over Megan Savage.

The ladies' intermediates had two front-runners in Bethanie Dunning and Catherine Alford, and that was their finishing order, but only after Catherine had a disastrous three in section five on her last lap, which put her on five, while Bethanie was unpenalised to the finish.

Class B has been won by Alice Minta. County Durham's Molly Mayhew was sixth on both days and is sixth in the standings.
