SIX days on from the successful Class C and D final championship trial and Richmond provided a top class clubman and youth trial for 82 contenders at Skeeby on the Richardson farm at Skeeby on Saturday afternoon.

The Richardson Trial is a firm fixture on the Richardson acres apart from when the beck is too deep to cross. The course was more or less in Gerald's back garden but it was Brother Alan who planned and marked the three-lap 12-section course. No crash and bash sections but plenty of gradients and grassy climbs with just a couple of rock sections. The one mile course crossed Skeeby Beck which was user friendly on the day so it was either the footbridge or normal wellington boots to wade through the murky depths. The main course went up to Skeeby Bridge while Ted Harston and his crew watched over ten small wheelers rding a six section four lap course where Jack Vasey was supreme in the all Oset Class E group. As is normal at the Richardson some newcomers dipped their toes in trialling for the first time.

ON the world trials scene Spaniard Toni Bou won his eighth world trials championship for Repsol Honda finishing ahead of Adam Raga and Albert Cabestany. Leeds rider James Dabill finished sixth in the standings. Emma Bristow won the Ladies trial at Arnedo on Saturday where Becky Cook slumped to sixth but on Sunday the Isle of Wight Beta teamster bounced back to beat Bristow by one penalty. Katy Sunter took a tenth on Saturday and Sunday.

Skeeby's Chloe Richardson grabbed point in Spain and score in Belgium the previous weekend. The final event in the championship is on Sunday at Andorra.

LEADING this season's British Trials Championship Expert class with four outright wins, Beta rider Guy Kendrew from Faceby secured a convincing win over Leavening's Adam Milner at Middlesbrough club's two day trial at the weekend. Kendrew proved in fantastic form, losing only six marks over the three lap, 12-section course on Saturday after early rain made the going tricky. Intermediate winner Chris Alford was the only other rider to return a single figure score on Saturday, with a loss of three to head Stockton's Roger Williams and Kevin Tate from Great Ayton.

Intermediate riders, Guisborough's Lee McGee and Ian Hopley, Danby, produced better rides second day, but could not make up for poor Saturday performances, leaving Alford a clear winner from Williams. Middlesbrough's Colin Chapman was all smiles after producing a solid ride to edge a strong Clubman A class from the returning Mark Doughty and Glaisdale's Andrew Dale held it together to shake off the challenge of Guisborough's Andy Waugh.

Both finished on seven marks lost first day, but as sections stiffened, Dale edged in front on the final day with a sound ride of only five lost to Waugh's 13.

BETA rider Ian Austermuhle was in tremendous form on Sunday to win the Guisborough club's E. G. Pipe trial at Aislaby. The Malton man needed to perform though as the talented youngster from Scarborough, James Carr, pressured him all the way, Carr falling six marks short at the finish. Port Mulgrave's Jack Howell – returning after a shoulder injury – finished third.

Middlesbrough's Jak Holtby hung on to clinch Intermediate class and Whitby's Mike Noble's unpenalised ride on the hill saw him finish five points clear of a cluster of riders, Jonathon Sykes, Andy Beane, and Fryup's Tom Smith to win Clubman A. Andrew Dale, Steve Temple and Richard Harrison all rode well under pressure in the easier Clubman B class to finish on unpenalised.
