CROFT Circuit’s hugely popular Nostalgia fixture will take place this year on the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, August 2 and 3.

The North Yorkshire venue’s niche event, with an enchanting 1940s to 1970s theme, has grown rapidly in stature since it was first held in 2010 and has really found its place on the region’s social calendar.

On the track, visitors can watch 250 racing cars, including single-seater GT saloon and sports cars from the era doing battle with famous motor sport marques such as Aston Martin, Brabham, Chevron, Ford, Jaguar and Lotus to name, but a few all represented on the grid.

The Historic Sports Car Club has also provisionally confirmed 18 races for all classes including Roadsports; Formula Ford 1600; Formula Ford 2000; Guards Trophy; onelitre Formula 3; Formula Junior, 500cc Formula 3; Classic Clubmans and Historic Touring Cars.

Off the track, there will be just as much for visitors to savour with vast line ups and demonstrations of rare vintage and historic cars, motorcycles and other vehicles, plus Second World War machinery.

Adding to the wartime attraction and post-war presence are highly detailed history encampments and, in the skies above, displays from a variety of jet and propeller-powered aircraft from times gone by.

An increasing number of public as well as exhibitors also attend the Nostalgia weekend dressed in period costume to add to the atmosphere.

This includes many generations of families for whom the appeal is further enhanced thanks to free admission for accompanied children aged 15 and under.

Tickets for the event are already on sale at special advance rates, priced £10 for Saturday, £15 for Sunday or £23 for the weekend. They can be booked by calling the Croft Circuit office on 01325- 721815 or by visiting the website croftcircuit.co.uk WITH just over a week until Darlington and District Motor Club’s Autogas 2000 Jack Frost Stages Rally in association with Cartersport gets under way at Croft Circuit, the entry list has filled up rapidly over the past few days as the quest for places increases.

As of earlier this week, about 60 crews have so far committed to the event which comprises eight stages totalling around 40 stage miles on the tarmac of the North- East’s only permanent race track and the organisers are confident of a top quality entry, which so far includes last year’s winner and event sponsor, Chris Wise.

Having not been in action since his success last January, the Thirsk driver wheeled out his MG Metro 6R4 on the recent Christmas Stages Rally where he proceeded to take a battling runner- up place with stand in codriver Mick Johnson, who was deputising for Wise’s usual co-driver Tracey Taylor- West who was out with a back injury. Chris will be gunning for victory to add to his successes in 2007 and 2008, as well as the 2013 event, Another driver who impressed at the Christmas Stages was Peter Smith who debuted his MG Metro 6R4 with a top-ten placing, so with the experience gained, he could well be challenging higher up the order this time out.

The event will again comprise a qualifying round of the AS Performance North of England Tarmacadam Championship 2014, Fuchs Titan Race ANCC Stage Rally Championship 2014 and the SG Petch ANECCC Stage Rally Championship 2014.

Scrutineering and documentation take place the same day as the event from 06:00 with the first car starting at 09.15. There are classes for cars up to 1400cc, up to 1600cc, up to 2000cc, over 2000cc and all four wheeldrive cars as well as pre-1981 classic rally cars.
