A FAIRLY quiet week of racing saw most Quakers heading over to Cumbria in a last minute dash for points.

The 10K run at Ravenstonedale, which doubled up as the final club championship race and the penultimate league race, saw Quakers making up one-sixth of the entire field. First home for the club over the undulating countryside course was Marc Ellis who crossed the line in third place in 36:29. He was followed in by Paul Dalton (37:12 and in sixth place overall), Brian Martin (39:14 and first in his age category), Dawn Richardson (41:10 and the third female finisher overall), Rob Dent (41:37), Andrew Vernon (43:42), Louise Trainor (44:30), Gary Read (44:34), Billy Harris (45:24), Rebecca Howard (46:16), Phil Clarke (48:07), Brian McLaren (48:20), Ty Hankinson (49:13), Rob Gillham (51:12), Lindsey Lester (51:54), Gavin Armstrong (52:25), Shaune Eland (52:36), Wendy Colling (52:45), Darren Alderson (53:29), Andrew Dixon (54:15), Clare Stradling (54:37), David Ledgerwood (54:55), Richard Payne (55:00), Juliette McLaren (55:31), Sandra Martin (55:33), Jamie Pratt (57:59), Tracey Plaskitt (58:11), Wendy Noble (1:00:19), Paul Ryan (1:02:17), Lisa Jenkins (1:03:29), Lucy Bendle (1:05:09), Grainne Duffy (1:06:54), Sharon Carr (1:10:05), Alan Prest (1:13:52 and first in his age category), Emily Beaumont (1:14:08), Karen Dove (1:14:09) and Lisa Alderson (1:14:29). The placings of our first three women home - Dawn, Louise and Rebecca - also enabled them to take the women’s team prize on the day as well.

Heading north were Paul Dalton and Diane Adkins, who both completed the 10 mile race at Ponteland, finishing the out and back course in 1:03:26 and 1:29:31 respectively.

Going in the other direction, Diane Vaughan and Richard Hughes both took part in the 10K race at Barnsley, completing the fairly undulating route in 46:50 and 51:14 respectively.

The quiet calendar left some runners heading out midweek in search of a race, on this occasion the first of this winter’s Tees Night Trail 5K races.
