Redcar Town lifted the Teesside League Alex Burness Plate with a hard fought 3-1 win over Yarm FC.

Redcar started the brighter and took the lead on 14 minutes when Richie Playforth's overhead effort was needlessly handled in the box which resulted in a red card for the offending Yarm player and Josh Butters put away the penalty.

Redcar dominated the play without creating many clear cut chances with the final pass often not quite finding it's target. Town were awarded another penalty on 52 minutes after Stuart Poulter was brought down and the same player scored from the spot.

Yarm hardly showed as an attacking force but managed to pull a goal back from their first corner of the game on 64 minutes this inspired Yarm who enjoyed a brief spell of dominance before Town regained the upper hand.

Yarm lost another player to a second red card on 89 minutes before Stuart Poulter slotted home his second and Redcar's third in the fourth minute of time added on for a final score of 3-1.

Town hope to complete the league and cup double on Saturday when Kader FC are the visitors the Trunk Road. A win will give Town the Second Division Championship.
