ELVET STRIDERS are always guaranteed to be well represented at parkruns throughout the country and often internationally and this weekend was no exception with some great performances.

There was purple to be seen in Manchester, Bedford, Carlisle, Sheffield, Chichester and Newby Bridge in Cumbria as well as lots more locally.

Tees Barrage was run by Philip Connor whereas Riverside saw Katy Walton the first Strider home and fifth lady overall.

More great performances at Sedgefield including Jean Bradley and Paul Swinburne each placing eighth in their gender, closely followed by Conrad White.

Striders' home parkrun Durham saw Rob Everson lead the purple runners home in third place overall with Elaine Bisson taking second lady and bagging herself a new Durham course PB by two seconds, amazing in the strong head winds!

Also at Durham, Lucy Herkes, who is new to Elvet Striders, achieved her third PB in three weeks. Even more inspiring about Lucy's performance is that she's only recently returned to running after having brain surgery in October 2013 and waking up with no movement down her left side so it's a really great achievement.

Another PB was achieved by Bev Walker who is an ever present support to our Couch to 5K groups. Son Adam was proudest of all but we all think she's brilliant!

Karen Hooper missed out on a PB by just two seconds....definitely someone to watch next weekend!

Well done everyone, especially in those winds!
