Broton supermoto ace Davey Todd is about to embark on his first year in the highly competitive Thundersport GB road racing series which will take him to circuits the length and breadth of the United Kingdom.

19 year old Davey from Brotton, North Yorkshire honed and developed his two wheel riding ability from a very early age and with the dedicated support of his parents clinched many schoolboy motocross championships.  However, just three years ago Davey made the bold move in to supermoto which sees riders battle it out for supremacy on a mixture of tarmac and off road surfaces.  In this short period of time Davey went on to be a regular top three finisher in the highest class of the sport, the Elite 450, then continued to add to his portfolio of success selection to represent his country at The Supermoto of Nations on a number of occasions.

2015 though is time for change for Davey and this year he has decided to make an assault on the Thudersport GB race series which has been the proving ground for many of today’s top level British Superbike Riders.  Run over nine championship rounds this highly competitive series is televised and provides an outstanding showcase for sponsors and riders alike.  Davey has been busy over the winter continuing to increase his fitness and combining this with as much bike time he can fit into his busy working schedule.  Both on and off the track Davey has proven himself to be an ambassador for the sport and his ability to handle the media and publicity side of racing complements well his outstanding riding skills. In addition to the Thundersport GB road race series Davey has entered the Pirelli Masters motocross championship which will again increase his bike fitness and overall riding skills.

Davey has spent the past two years riding in The British Supermoto Championship for the Dave Clarke Racing / Nameplate Services team where he has continued to develop his riding skills and record podium places throughout the season.  He is hoping to follow in the footsteps of some other famous road racers who have been spotted and mentored by Dave Clarke, such as Christian Iddon and Sam Warren.

Riding an ex Gealink Kawasaki ZXR 600, Davey will be entering a number of classes with the focus upon the Superstock category and early signs in winter testing have shown that the Brotton teenager is capable of setting times to run at the front of the pack.

Davey commented: 'This year is another change in discipline for me and as I reached the highest level achievable in supermoto I have decided to progress my career ambitions by racing in this years Thudersport GB series.  My parents have supported me throughout my racing career and it wasn’t an easy decision to move on from supermoto, but we were all in agreement that the skills I developed in the sport would definitely put me in a good position to make an impact on the road racing scene. I am looking forward to lining up on the grid at my first event at Brands Hatch on the 7th & 8th March and meeting my fellow competitors.'

For the Brotton teenager this is yet another chapter in his racing career which he hopes will lead to the highest level of the sport and his ultimate goal to ride in the British Superbike Championship.  If budgets and additional financial support is secured Davey is considering a wildcard entry in at least one round of the BSB Championship to give him additional experience at riding at the pinnacle of superbike racing in the United Kingdom.

However Davey is under no illusion this is going to be an easy road to success as significant financial backing will be required to ensure he can afford the running costs and entry fees for his first years competition.  Davey would be interested to discuss with any local business or individuals who may wish to support him take on the televised Thundersport GB championship.  If you would like to find out more of how to share in his success then please contact Davey via:
