THERE was a dampish atmosphere for the Park Runs this week, though Fountains Abbey is lovely whatever the weather! Among the 395 finishers, Lorraine Hiles, really in top form at the moment, came 48th in 22.00, Andy Butcher 53rd in 22.07, Caroline Pearce 207th in 29.14, Steve Isaac 252nd in 31.01, Linda Bamforth 265th in 31.29, Liz Stephenson 317th in 34.32, Tracy Hayden 340th in 36.54, with Marian and Ian Codling running in together, 355th in 39.18.

Ken Evitt was among the 86 at Northallerton, coming 38th in 27.14, and at Albert Park, Peter Richardson came 122nd out of 340 in 24.38. 270 were in the field at Catterick and Charlotte Wilton finished 98th, and 2nd F, in 20.48 with Rosie Gatenby 158th in 26.36. David Criddle at Clare Castle came 58th out of 113 in PB 28.01.

Whilst it was damp at Fountains Abbey, in the afternoon at Newby Hall it was very wet for Fiona Bellas running the 5k leg of the Falcon Sprint Triathlon. The 750m swim was in the River Ure and there was also a 20k bike ride before the run. Fiona was delighted with her time of 1hour 38 minutes.

The next day, Richard Harry tackled the very tough Mulgrave Castle 10k, hilly throughout, but with a "mountain goat" climb up to the finish.

His time of 50.35 was impressive, as was his position, 44th out of a field of 181.
