THIS weekend sees the first qualifying round of the Protyre MSA British Asphalt Championship 2018 – Melyvn Evans Motorsport Tour of Epynt, Wales.

Scorton rally driver Geoff Wright will make the journey in his Ford Fiesta S2000 sponsored by FJ Booth Construction, Meiser UK Ltd SMR Corporate Hospitality, IT Systems, Loe Bank Motors Ltd and EPF Graphics for the event on March 11.

The event takes the form of six stages which are run over undulating roads that flow over the military ranges and snake over Mynydd Epynt.

Geoff, having last competed there in 1998, is looking forward to going back and getting out there in his new car.

"It will be challenging as there will no doubt be many changes. However, I am looking forward to seeing how the car handles and what we can do in the Fiesta."

On the notes will be Chris Sanderson from Hawkshaw, Bury, Lancashire. The pair have competed together for many years.

This will be a busy year for Geoff and Chris as they take on the full British Asphalt Championship as well as the Manx Championship, Isle of Man.
