TOO much is expected of managers who work for the top football clubs. If you are a manager of one of the top four clubs then you are automatically expected to win a piece of silverware every year. If you are manager of any other club in the Premier League then it is thought to be an achievement to finish in an UEFA Cup qualifying slot, and unless you are relegated then you keep your job.
Avram Grant is at present second in the Premier League and were losing finalists to Tottenham in the Carling Cup.
Most clubs in the Premier League would think their manager has done really well if he has done this much in a season, but because he works for Chelsea then things are different.
If he is manager of Chelsea and he doesn't win any silverware then he has been told he will get the sack if his team don't win the Champions League.
