I HAD long since given up hope that The Northern Echo would ever give a decent coverage of cycling, but T Richardson's recent letter about the track cycling World Championships in Manchester (HAS, Apr 8) prompted me to offer my five pennyworth.
We accept that cycling isn't a mainstream sport in this country, but I wouldn't have thought that we had so many world champions in any sport that you would virtually ignore nine gold medals and silvers.
To be fair you did give some coverage to another of our local world champions, albeit at masters level, when he was runnerup in last year's Local Heroes competition.
Nevertheless, I think the sport deserves better.
Bryan Chambers, Durham I THOROUGHLY agree with T Richardson who complained about your poor coverage of the track cycling World Championships (HAS, Apr 8).
I could not believe how little you wrote about it. Here we have men and women who train hard, unlike the petulant football prima donnas.
The cyclists scored gold medal after gold medal and were top again in the world series.
While I'm on my high horse, what happened to the bowls coverage?
