"Every single player stank the place out!" - Wilson
With those words, coach Rob Wilson summed up his Vipers side's first-leg performance which saw them crash out of the Knockout Cup.
The 4-1 defeat saw Edinburgh take a three goal advantage back to the Scottish Capital and in the end the Tynesiders failed to make the next round after a 3-3 tie in the 2nd leg on Sunday.
Wilson fumed: "There isn't one guy on that team I could say had a good game, lets be honest there wasn't one guy on the team that had an average game - every single player stank the place out.
"The guys have to have a long hard look at themselves as performances can't continue like this, we've worked too hard off the ice during the past three years for a 20 game run to have an effect on our future plans."
Wilson also acknowledged the frustration of fans in recent weeks.
"It doesn't surprise me one little bit that the fans are frustrated, if you pay good money week after week you want to come and see a good performance. We're just not doing that right now, I am not going to give any excuses as that performance was totally unacceptable and we've got to have a long hard look at ourselves.
"This hockey club was built around hard working teams and giving 100 per cent, night after night, right now we're not doing that and that isn't Viper hockey. If the right players were available I would make changes right now but the market's totally dry - talking to agents and other coaches around the league it's the worst it's ever been.
"It's time the guys realised that it's no good just turning up and expecting to win, they've got to give 100 per cent night after night. I know we've got a bunch of players who can do that, I have no doubt about that. It's up to them to turn things around against Manchester and Basingstoke next weekend."
