Moore can steer Boys to victory
BRIDGEWATER BOYS rates a
watertight selection at
Brighton.
Gary Moore's charge could finish
only fourth in search of a
four-timer last time but it is
probably premature to assume
his improvement has levelled off
on the basis of that one disappointment.
Bridgewater Boys charge was
never really sighted in a typically
muddling lady amateurs'
race, but should be much nearer
to the fore under former champion
Ryan Moore.
Although the seven-year-old's
hat-trick came on the all-weather,
he is just as useful on turf and
hit a winning note when last
seen in action at this unique
venue.
The Weatherbys Bank Handicap
looks relatively open but his
credentials are as strong as any
and he must go close.
Luca Cumani is a proven master
when it comes to extracting
improvement from his horses
and the upwardly-mobile Boz is
a case in point.
This son of Grand Lodge has
won six of his last seven races,
continuing to make a mockery of
the handicapper in the process.
While the assessor has unsurprisingly
reacted to his impressive
sequence of results, Boz just
keeps finding more to make
light of his rise up the weights.
The talented grey is now up to
a perch of 84 but it would take a
brave layer to take him on again
in the Hunter Valley Handicap at
Great Leighs.
Cumani's charge won at the
track last time and clearly has
more to offer this term, which
suggests career success number
seven could easily be on its way
here.
Temple Of Thebes was another
to score at the course last time
and Ed Dunlop's youngster
makes plenty of appeal as she
seeks a follow-up in the Jake Fillies'
Handicap.
The daughter of Bahri has reportedly
not been the easiest to
train but was entitled to win her
maiden after twice showing a
fair portion of ability at two.
She was very impressive in
getting the job done, however,
and does not look too harshly
treated for her first foray into
the handicapping ranks.
Six furlongs looks ideal for the
time being and a very bold bid
looks assured.
Hereford Boy ran two very encouraging
races at the start of
this term before scoring at
Folkestone last month. Dean
Ivory knows how to handle a
sprinter and this one has all the
signs of a decent handicapper.
Southwell's deepish all-weather
should hold no fears for a softground
winner, which suggests
the NSPCC Full Stop Handicap
can go his way.
Yarmouth stage a tricky card,
on which Fourth Dimension
makes plenty of appeal in the
concluding digibet Handicap.
