Catch Metro at Windsor
METROPOLITAN Man looks ready to
end a near two-year spell in the wilderness
with victory in the Listed extrabet
Stakes at Windsor.
David Simcock has always aimed
high with this son of Dr Fong and he
has become something of a regular in
races such as this.
Those big targets have yielded plenty
of placed runs but Metropolitan
Man has not actually visited the winnerfs
enclosure since landing a conditions
event at Hamilton in July 2006.
He has run plenty of good races
since, though, and arrives here a the
top of his game with three runs already
under his belt this term.
After finding his feet with two very
creditable efforts in Dubai, Metropolitan
Man showed there is quite a bit left
in him when finishing third at big odds
in a Sandown Group Two.
He could be considered a shade unlucky
as he had to be switched after a
gap closed.
But he stayed on strongly to be beaten
just three-quarters of a length by
Lockinge-bound Major Cadeaux.
Metropolitan Man obviously has not
enjoyed the best of fortune in his career
but his time can finally come over
Windsorfs mile.
Daddyfs Gift made a satisfactory
start when third over this course and
distance last month and she can put
the experience to good use in the Get
On With William Hill Novice Stakes.
Well supported in the ring, Richard
Hannonfs runner raced prominently
before just fading out in the closing
stages to finish in the money.
The outing will have done her the
world of good and Daddyfs Gift should
get a win on the board here.
Qui Moi is related to some useful performers
and can put her best foot forward
in the Get A Bonus
williamhillpoker.com Median Auction
Maiden Stakes.
She ran very green on her debut at
Kempton, becoming detached before
staying on to claim a distant fourth.
The run will not be lost on her and
she should know her job much better
this time.
Highland Harvest should feel the
benefit of quick ground in the Great
Yarmouth Advertiser Handicap at the
seaside venue.
He was just found out a bit on an easier
surface at Windsor last time but arrives
here in the best of heart for David
Elsworth.
Sloop Johnb came close to breaking
his maiden at the first time of asking
earlier this month and he can make a
quick return to Redcar pay.
Just defeated by half a length over
course and distance in easy conditions,
Sloop Johnb should be all the wiser for
the Weddings Morritt Median Auction
Maiden Stakes.
Mick Channon has not been enjoying
much luck of late but Dream Sea
can put a smile on his face in Wolverhamptonfs
Name A Race To Enhance
Your Brand Filliesf Handicap.
The daughter of Barathea has been
knocking on the door, finishing second
and third on her last two outings. She
can come good here.
The Hairy Mutt can make the best
possible start over obstacles by claiming
the Volkswagen Touareg Maiden
Hurdle at Towcester after winning in
bumper company.
Casual Conquest produced a
tremendous performance to run out an
impressive winner of the Derrinstown
Stud Derby Trial at Leopardstown.
Dermot Weldfs 13-2 chance was making
his seasonal reappearance in the
10-furlong Group Two feature but evidently
lacked nothing for fitness as he
readily brushed aside Washington Irving
and Moiqen.
Casual Conquest turned for home in
last place but rocketed to the front well
over a furlong from home once Pat
Smullen asked his mount to go about
his business.
