Graeme Lee waits on scan results after dislocating hip

GRAHAM Lee is waiting on a scan to determine how long he will be on the sidelines after dislocating his hip at Southwell.

The injury occurred when he was unseated from the Ferdy Murphy-trained Rich Lord in the Win Whatever The Result With BetAngel Handicap Chase.

The leading jockey was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham and while he will certainly miss next month’s Cheltenham Festival and probably the rest of the season, the full extent of the damage is unclear.

Lee’s agent, Richard Hale, said: ‘‘I’ve spoken to Graham this morning and he’s waiting to have a scan later.

‘‘As I said on Wednesday, they put the hip back in under sedation and that went well. But he’ll have a scan today to find out whether there are any fractures or floating bone.

‘‘If that was negative and there was nothing wrong there, then that would be good news.

‘‘But if there is something there, he’s going to need an operation and that would make it a longer job.

‘‘Either way it is going to be slow as even if there is no fracture, he is going to need a hell of a lot of physio.

‘‘But, obviously, he would be able to get back a lot quicker if nothing is fractured.’’
