Shadows Lengthen is clearly in rude health at the moment and looks set for his third win in less than a week in the Betdaq The Betting Exchange Handicap at Southwell.
Mick Easterby’s charge won with his head in his chest over this course and distance last Tuesday and had little trouble following up under a penalty at Wolverhampton over the weekend.
He is going to find life tough once the handicapper is given chance to reassess him but a double penalty may not stop him going in again, with a decent claimer on his back taking off a valuable 7lb.
Inflammable has been disappointing so far this season but she will find few better opportunities to break her maiden tag than the Call 01636 814481 To Sponsor A Race Maiden Stakes.
The daughter of Montjeu was unplaced in a maiden won by top-class juvenile Crowded House on her debut in September of last year, but placed efforts at Southwell and Ayr suggested she was a winner waiting to happen.
She probably did not get home when stepped up to two miles on her latest outing but she should be too good for this lot if reproducing last year’s form.
First Bay can win the TSG Juvenile Novices’ Hurdle at Sedgefield.
Although no great shakes on the Flat, Howard Johnson’s charge served notice at Wetherby that he could be pretty smart over timber. With that third-placed sighter in the bag, there could plenty more to come.
