JUNIOR artists are being given the chance to win a VIP family day out at the races in a cracking Easter art competition.

Redcar Racecourse kicks off an exciting new season with a family fun day on Bank Holiday Easter Monday (April 2) and creative youngsters are being invited to add a splash of colour to the occasion.

The winner of Redcar’s Easter Colouring Competition will receive a host of prizes, including their entry being the front cover of the official racecard for the Easter Monday meeting.

Other first place prizes are:

• An Easter Monday race named after the winning artist

• Presenting the trophy to the winning connections

• A VIP day out for two adults and two children to include a three-course meal, bottle of wine and racecards

• A scrumptious Easter egg The runner-up and third-placed artists will both have their entries included in the racecard and each will receive four Grandstand tickets for the Easter Monday meeting.

Last year’s winner was 11-year-old Olivia Renshaw, of Middlesbrough, who went on to present the trophy to the winning connections of the race named after her.

Redcar’s general manager Amy Fair said: “This is the first of 18 meetings we’ll be staging this year so it’s a huge honour to design the front cover of the racecard and win a VIP family day out. It’s time to dig out those colouring pens and pencils and get cracking!”

A competition template, depicting a photo-finish with cute Easter bunnies in the background, can be downloaded from Redcar Racecourse’s website ¬–www.redcarracing.co.uk (click on ‘news’). Entrants just have to make it as eye-catching as possible.

Participants must be under-17 on April 2 and the competition is limited to one entry per child. Entries must be sent to Redcar Racecourse, Redcar, Tees Valley, TS10 2BY by Friday, March 23.
