The boss Michael Dods has been in terrific form of late. His patience with a lot of the string at the start of the season is really paying off now and he has saddled eight winners over the last fortnight.

We have some nice three-year-olds, the likes of Mabs Cross, Archi's Affaire and Barwell, who are progressing with each run, and we haven't rushed any of them, which has been key.

We had a similar golden patch in August, and you just need to make hay while the sun shines. Hopefully, we can continue the run with Get Knotted, who runs in the JCB Handicap at York today.

He has won over the course and distance and never runs a bad race at York. He was third there last time, when the small field and lack of pace went against him.

He won't have that problem here as there are 18 runners and they are sure to go a good lick. He will like the fast ground and he'd be my best chance of a winner.

Kodiline, whose last three runs have come in Listed company, takes a drop down in class to run in the Catherine Kinloch Paver Memorial Macmillan Charity Handicap.

He has been far from disgraced at that level and Clive Cox obviously thinks a fair bit of him. Hopefully the first-time hood can work the trick.

Epsom Icon has been running at an even higher level and was a decent eighth in a Group One at Meydan in March, beaten only six lengths by Decorated Hero. Mick Channon is ticking along and hopefully this horse is coming to the boil for the Best Western Hotels Ganton Stakes.

While Michael has been in terrific form in the trainers' championship, Silvestre De Sousa has made a blistering start to his bid to reclaim the Stobart-sponsored jockeys' title.

He seems to be riding doubles and trebles everywhere he goes. There's still a long way to go in the title race, but Silvestre looks as hungry as he's ever been. He will attack a race at Kempton on a Wednesday night with the same level of intensity as a Group One at Royal Ascot. His work ethic is incredible.

Finally, it has been hard to focus on the racing following the quite sickening tower block fire in London. I was brought up only a couple of miles from where it happened, and my brother lives about a mile away.

It really is desperate news and my heart goes out to all those affected.
