It’s great to be back on Racing UK. It’s been a busy winter and seems ages ago since we were anticipating Mecca’s Angel’s season finale at Ascot on Qipco British Champions Day.

It’s a very exciting time of the year with the Turf Flat racing season just starting to get underway, and plenty to look forward to throughout the summer. There’s a lot to look forward to this weekend too, with some great racing and very good prize money on offer around the country.

I’m in action at Musselburgh today after being on the all-weather at Newcastle yesterday.

While the All-weather championships reached their climax at Lingfield, I had four booked rides at Newcastle.

Newcastle has been a happy hunting ground for me, and the all-weather track has been a real boost for the northern trainers over the winter. James Armstrong and his team do a great job. The facilities are terrific and I’m looking forward to seeing the place continue to go from strength to strength.

Today, at Musselburgh I’ve got a couple of decent rides for Paul Midgely including Russian Realm in the opener at 1.50 pm. He won a decent handicap at Goodwood for Richard Hughes over this trip last spring.

He had a couple of runs for us towards the end of last season and we’re still learning about him, but we’ve been very happy with his progress over the winter and I’m looking forward to the ride.

Paul also saddles Line Of Reason in the totescoop6 Borderless Scott Sprint Trophy at 2.25. He’s a horse I know well and I finished third on him at Newcastle in December before he went to Dubai where he’s had his last five starts. He handles the track and the race should be run to suit him and there’s no reason why he shouldn’t run a big race back on home soil.

Wherever you’re racing over the next few days I hope you have a great weekend and a very happy Easter.
