HENRY DALY has made a fine start to the campaign and has every chance of putting another one on the scoresheet through Brave Buck in the Weatherbys Hamilton Insurance Novices’ Handicap Chase at Hexham.

The six-year-old makes his debut over fences in the three-mile-one-furlong event after winning twice over hurdles last term.

He may not have seen action since February but he did win first time out last season and is certain to have been well-schooled.

No Through Road had a choice of entries and can defy his 7lb penalty in the Ramside Handicap Chase.

Trainer Michael Scudamore was obviously keen to get another run into the seven-year-old following his six-length success at Ffos Las last week and should be rewarded for his enterprise.

Omid appeals as likely to defy the same burden in the ‘Delightfully’ Memorial Handicap Hurdle after a success at Ayr.

Foxtrot Romeo remains a source of frustration to his followers but those that refuse to give up hope are set to be rewarded in the Daily Price Boosts At Unibet Handicap at Wolverhampton.

It is quite an incredible statistic that the talented five-year-old has only won once from 20 starts, and that on his debut way back in August 2011 in his days with Bryan Smart.

Having been one of the better juveniles of his generation, he ran a screamer first time up as a threeyear- old when second in the Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh.

Other smart efforts followed, but plenty of water has gone under the bridge since then and he gradually lost his way, dropping from an official mark of 114 at his peak to 88 by the time he went close at York in June this year.

Annoyingly he has crept back up the handicap without winning, but it is just a matter of time and there was real encouragement to be taken for this assignment when he showed the new Tapeta surface was to his liking in just going down over course and distance a couple of runs ago.

His last start was again highly creditable, being a fourth-placed finish in the Ayr Silver Cup.

Marco Botti has a nice team for the all-weather season and clearly thinks Foxtrot Romeo can play his part.

Newmarket trainer Botti has claims to a double on the card in the two feature events as Norab promises to be hard to beat in the 32Red Handicap.

Quite a talented son of Galileo in the context of a race like this, he has been busy this year but is not overraced in his general profile and still has scope for improvement.

He had useful form in maidens - including behind Eagle Top – before going handicapping, winning his last two.

The latest of those was over this course and distance, and was achieved with a deal of authority, suggesting a 6lb rise is not going to prove an insurmountable obstacle.

His immediate victim was Gabrial’s Star, who can hopefully show the form in a good light by going once place better in the Coral Casino Handicap.

Richard Fahey has his string going well and he ought still to be competitive as a 3lb rise leaves him within range of his last winning mark.
