EXPLOSIVE Lady has attracted plenty of interest from prospective buyers on the back of an excellent run in the Princess Margaret Stakes at Ascot on Saturday.

The Karl Burke-trained filly did her reputation a world of good when she stayed on strongly, after having to be switched, to snatch third place in the Group Three heat over six furlongs behind the impressive Osaila.

Owned by Market Avenue Racing Club and Burke’s wife, Elaine, the daughter of Alfred Nobel seems sure to progress as it was only her second start having made a winning debut at Nottingham.

Burke has big plans in mind for the rest of the season if they can hang on to her, with the Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Sales Stakes on Irish Champions’ Weekend at the Curragh on September 14 and the Connolly’s Red Mills Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket on September 27 likely targets.

“She’s 100 per cent this morning. Martin (Harley, jockey) did say she hung right-handed a little bit when he switched over to the right-hand side, but there’s nothing physically wrong with her. It might just have been a bit of greenness,” said the Middleham trainer.

“She was arguably a little unlucky as she could have been a length closer.

We wouldn’t have won, but I think we’d have been challenging for second if she hadn’t got impeded and hung across.

“We were delighted with the run. If we’d have been told in the morning we’d have been third, we’d have taken that. No complaints at all.

“She’s qualified for the Tattersalls Ireland race and I’d imagine she’d be top of the list in that at the moment. It’s worth 100,000 euro, so we’ll have to take that into consideration.

“There has been some interest in her, especially from the States, so there’s every possibility that a deal could be done either before or after that race.

“She’s an exciting filly and she’s also got the Group One entry at Newmarket at the end of September so if we’ve still got her I imagine that would be the route - the sales race and hopefully the Group One.”
