TRAINER Tom Dascombe plans to give Brown Panther the chance to defend his crown in the Goodwood Cup on July 31.
The six-year-old stayer won the Group Two by three and a half lengths last summer and shaped honourably on Thursday when fourth in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot.
Dascombe said: “It looked like he was going to win when he took it up with two furlongs to go but he just didn’t get home.
“I’d imagine it will be back to the Goodwood Cup for him next.”
