ROYAL ASCOT could be next on the agenda for Blue Aegean after she ran away with the Bet totejackpot Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes at Nottingham.

The Godolphin-owned Invincible Spirit filly might have had her task simplified by the defection of muchvaunted newcomer War Alert due to the easy ground, but such was her authority in disposing of newcomer Osaila under William Buick that trainer Charlie Appleby may well consider a tilt at the Queen Mary.

Buick, on the mark for Appleby with another sharp two-year-old at Leicester on Monday, had the 7-4 joint favourite out of the stalls in a flash and the combination came home two and threequarter lengths clear, with Osaila getting the hang of things late after running green.

Buick said: “She was green first time (at Sandown) but knew her job and after such an easy win, I think Charlie will have to think about Royal Ascot.”

Buick picked up a one-day suspension (June 22) after the stewards decided he hadn’t ridden to his draw on his opening winner.

The testing conditions played to the strengths of Flashy Queen as the daughter of Pivotal edged out Touch The Clouds by three-quarters of a length in the toteexacta Pick The 1, 2 Handicap in a race where hot favourite Rozene was the first beaten.

Named in similar vein to Flashy Wings by original owner Jaber Abdullah, Flashy Queen was later purchased by trainer Joe Tuite and according to the Hungerford handler has “a good race in her”.

Tuite said: “She hit her head in the stalls at Windsor last time when the filly next to her played up. She’s a nice filly and in these conditions our hopes soared.

“I definitely think she’ll give us a lot of fun, but she’ll have a little break now. My horses are in great order - that’s 17 winners from 15 horses that have run.”

Rozene cut out the early running but was in trouble soon after halfway with her pilot easing her down in the final furlong.

Heartsong gamely resisted Tagula Night in the totequadpot Four Places In Four Races Handicap.

Her trainer John Gallagher was full of praise for three apprentices that are riding his horses this year, including Louis Steward who was aboard Heartsong.
