New Storm brewing in Florida
GRAEME STORM will start his final round of the World Golf Championships-CA soon and he is in with a genuine chance of claiming the biggest prize of his career.
The North-East's only golfer at the Blue Monster course in Florida, is tied with dynamic duo Vijay Singh and Retief Goosen on 12 under par - just four shots adrift of leader Geoff Ogilvy.
Storm has forced his way into the reckong after he carded a sublime 63, nine under par, in the third round.
The stunning display, spread over the weekend because of bad weather conditions, has only been equalled by Singh since the competition started on Thursday.
That means his heroics have been better than that of world number one Tiger Woods, who is placed nicely a shot further back on 11 under ahead of the last day's play.
Storm is the only Englishman in the top 20 at this stage and will be looking to stay with his playing partners - Aussie Ogilvy and Fiji's Singh - tonight at the Doral Golf Resort.
The Hartlepool man's place near the top of the leaderboard could even have been better had he not bogeyed the ninth.
Nevertheless the 30-year-old, whose only win on the European Tour was the French Open last summer, will not be too concerned by what happened just before the turn.
After all, there were eight birdies and one eagle during his emphatic third round.
