BRENTFORD (4-1-4-1):

Bentley 6; Clarke 6, Bjelland 5, Egan 5, Dalsgaard 6; Woods 5; Watkins 6 (Canos 74, 5), Sawyers 5 (McEachran 67, 6), Yennaris 6, JOZEFZOON 8; Vibe 5 (Maupay 74, 6)

Subs (not used): Daniels (gk), Mokotjo, Barbet, Mepham

SUNDERLAND (4-2-3-1):

6 Steele: May feel he could have done better for the first goal but stood little chance with the other two strikes against him.

7 Oviedo: Will claim the goal that nearly put Sunderland in dreamland although struggled against Jozefzoon late on

6 O'Shea: Solid enough performance by the Irish centre back as he partnered Kone

6 Kone: Appeared to justify Grayson’s decision to return him to the starting lineup

6 Jones: The right back was industrious enough but struggled at times

5 Cattermole: Gave away the ball for the first Brentford goal and never really kicked on afterwards

6 Ndong: Managed the midfield well and his performance was one of the better ones at Griffin Park

6 Honeyman: Linked up well with Grabban and helped cause the Brentford defence some issues

7 McGeady: Did not find the net on this occasion but his corners in particular kept asking questions

7 Watmore: Found a lot of space on the right in the first half and earned what should have been the winning penalty

8 Grabban: Returned to the starting XI in style by taking his first goal well and netting a cool spot-kick

Subs:

5 McManaman (for Watmore, 67): Could not finish off the good work of the man he replaced

Vaughan (for Grabban, 84)

Gooch (for McGeady, 89)

(not used): Ruiter (gk), Matthews, Rodwell, Gibson

MAN OF THE MATCH: LEWIS GRABBAN - A good way to return to the starting line-up, giving Simon Grayson some much needed firepower.
