SUNDERLAND (4-4-2):

7 Steele: Had absolutely no chance with Wednesday’s equaliser and made good saves from Winnall and Hooper

7 Jones: Faced a stiff test up against Reach, but acquitted himself well and was never overrun despite his opponent’s pace

8 Browning: Another impressive display from the Everton loanee, who seems to be relishing the physical test of the Championship

7 Kone: Defended extremely well for the majority of the night, but inadvertently set up Jones’ equaliser with a slack pass

7 Galloway: Worked tirelessly down the left-hand side and made a number of important tackles and interceptions

7 Honeyman: Claimed his first Championship goal with a calm assurance and looks perfectly at home at this level

8 CATTERMOLE: Produced another midfield masterclass as he calmly controlled the central area for the majority of the evening

7 Ndong: Another impressive showing from the midfielder, who will be a huge asset if he remains beyond the end of the month

7 McGeady: Set up Honeyman’s opener with an excellent cross and created a host of problems down Sunderland’s left-hand side

6 Vaughan: His work rate caught the eye once again, but wasted a glorious opportunity when he blazed over in the second half

7 Grabban: Came close with a first-half header that flashed narrowly wide of the target and combined effectively with Vaughan once again

Subs:

Khazri (for McGeady, 80)

Gooch (for Grabban, 84)

Gibson (for Cattermole, 88)

(not used): Ruiter (gk), Matthews, O’Shea, Asoro.

Man Of The Match: LEE CATTERMOLE – The Sunderland skipper did the simple things effectively once again and looks tailor-made for the demands of the Championship.
