SUNDERLAND (4-3-3):

8 Pickford: Made three exceptional second-half saves, with his best moment coming courtesy of a fantastic double stop

7 Jones: His distribution isn’t always the best, but he ran himself into the ground down the right and delivered some dangerous crosses

6 Kone: Had a busy afternoon against the physical Mbokani and didn’t always look watertight in the second half

4 Djilobodji: Lacked composure throughout and let himself down when he dived into an unnecessary challenge that saw him sent off

7 Van Aanholt: Typically bright and energetic down the left-hand side and delivered the pass that led to Anichebe’s first goal

6 McNair: Kept on battling away even though he picked up a knock and had helped stiffen Sunderland’s midfield in recent games

6 Denayer: Recalled in place of the suspended Pienaar and didn’t let anyone down as he battled away in front of the back four

6 Ndong: Relishes the physical battle of the Premier League, although he still needs to work on his distribution

8 ANICHEBE: Has transformed Sunderland’s attacking outlook in the last two games and took both of his goals superbly

8 Defoe: Changed the course of the game with a moment of attacking magic that brought up yet another Premier League landmark

7 Watmore: Should have won a first-half penalty when he was fouled by Marshall and made some telling breaks into the box
