EMANUELE GIACCHERINI should finally complete his move away from Sunderland today.

As reported in The Northern Echo earlier this week, the Italy international has agreed to a move to Napoli despite interest from elsewhere.

Giaccherini is keen to play at the highest possible level and moving to Naples will provide him with an opportunity to play in the Champions League for the first time since leaving Juventus.

"We're almost there, it's all done for Giaccherini, the last few details are being ironed out with Sunderland," the player's agent Furio Valcareggi told Radio CRC.

"The boy is very happy. It was a choice made by him and his wife. He's finally getting what he deserves after being underestimated for years."

Giaccherini will undergo a medical at Napoli today and has already agreed terms on a £1.5m move from the Black Cats. He has interested Torino and Fiorentina, having impressed during last season's loan at Bologna.

Valcareggi said: "We had an agreement but then came an offer from Napoli. (Torino chairman Urbano) Cairo may not agree with our choice but he will understand why.

"The career of a footballer is short and everyone has the right to choose. It was inevitable that an offer by Napoli would be answered affirmatively."
