SUNDERLAND and Norwich have been fined and warned for their touchline bust-up at Carrow Road earlier this month.

The Football Association have stated both clubs will have to pay £30,000 and have been “warned as to their future conduct for failing to ensure their players and/or officials conducted themselves in an orderly fashion.”

Players and members of the backroom staff from both sides ended up coming together in front of the Sunderland dug-out on April 16 when the visitors reacted to a strong shove from Robbie Brady which saw DeAndre Yedlin end up with his face in an advertising board in the fourth minute.

Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce, who was pictured shoving a couple of Norwich players himself, and his team clashed with their counterparts and referee Andre Marriner included the incident in his report.

Norwich contested the FA charge, however, it was found proven following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing. The charge for Sunderland was accepted by the club.

Joking after the incident when things had calmed down at Carrow Road, Allardyce said: “I didn’t know I still had that strength. I got a bit carried away, which is what happens with emotions in the game, and with such a big game.

“I don’t know why the Norwich players came running over so much. I was a bit disappointed the fourth official didn’t stop the Norwich players encroaching into my box. I was protecting my box and my players at the time. But certainly I was going to protect all my players, my mob.

“And I hope Andre doesn’t get a ticking off for not doing more with me. In the end he just said: ‘Calm down will you?’ And I just said: ‘Ok, I’ll do my best.”
