SAM ALLARDYCE has tipped Wahbi Khazri to make an immediate impact in front of goal after the Tunisian striker was confirmed as Sunderland's fifth signing of the January transfer window.

Khazri, who follows Jan Kirchhoff, Dame N'Doye, Steve Harper and Lamine Kone through the entrance door at the Stadium of Light, has completed a £9m move from French side Bordeaux.

The 24-year-old attacking midfielder has signed a four-and-a-half year deal, and will be a key figure in Sunderland's attack as they attempt to clamber to safety in the final three-and-a-half months of the season.

Allardcye said: "Wahbi is a quick, dynamic attacking player. He has many attributes, not least his delivery from wide areas and set pieces and of course his ability to score goals.

"His versatility will certainly complement our existing forward options and I am delighted to welcome him to the club."

Khazri started his career with Bastia, progressing through the ranks to make almost 200 appearances during a five-year spell that saw him help the French club achieve back-to-back promotions in order to secure a place in Ligue 1.

His performances for the Corsican side earned him his maiden international call-up in 2013, and saw him join Bordeaux a year later.

He made more than 50 senior appearances during his two years with Bordeaux, scoring 14 goals.

Khazri will wear the number 22 shirt, and is available to make his debut in Tuesday's home game with Manchester City.
