SUNDERLAND’S defensive headaches were once again clear for all to see as Everton cruised to a 6-2 victory at Goodison Park this afternoon.
The Black Cats had threatened to get something from the game when Jermain Defoe and Steven Fletcher’s goals either side of half-time had cancelled out Everton’s first half goals from Gerard Deulofeu and Arouna Kone.
But once Sebastian Coates had turned Deulofeu’s cross beyond Costel Pantilimon ten minutes after half-time, Everton took command and humiliated Sam Allardyce’s side just a week after beating Newcastle at the Stadium of Light.
Romelu Lukaku made it four before Kone completed his hat-trick with two predatory finishes to leave Sunderland deep in relegation trouble after 11 games.
