Spennymoor manager Jason Ainsley says that he will make changes to his team when they go to Curzon Ashton on Saturday afternoon.

Moors will be playing their third game in five days on Tameside, and at the same looking for their first win in five matches, having drawn against Boston and Kidderminster, but lost to Brackley and Darlington. Despite that poor return, Moors are still seventh in the table, holding on to the last play-off spot two points ahead of Bradford PA and York City, with games in hand.

Moors are also level with Chorley, who dropped points when they were beaten at Leamington on Thursday night – a result that dropped today’s opponents Curzon Ashton to fourth bottom, three points above the relegation zone.

“It’s still very much in our own hands,” said Ainsley. “Two more wins will be enough to put us in the play offs.

“We’re in a position though in which we have to rest some players, it is difficult for them to play three games in five days, although some of the others may have to play because of the injuries that we have. I will utilise the squad again today.

“The lads are shattered, because it’s physically demanding to play so many games in a short space of time.

“But as I’ve said several times, at the start of the season if somebody had offered us seventh place in the table going into the last four games of the season, then I would have snapped their hands off.”

Ainsley will be hoping that there are no more defensive clangers, such as the one between defender Joe Tait and keeper Dan Lowson that cost them a point against Darlington on Thursday.

“Mistakes like that have happened too many times now over the season, and we have lost points because of them. We can’t put ourselves in a position in which we need to score three times to win a game. We can prepare the players as much as we can, but we can’t legislate for mistakes like that.

“I didn’t think there was too much between the two teams the other night. I thought we had the better chances in the first half, but things didn’t drop for us around the box in the second.”

Defenders Chris Mason and Chris Chantler are both missing because of injury, but winger David Foley should return. Another winger, Ryan Hall, will be facing his previous club at some point.

This will be the last away game of the regular season for Moors, as they have three home games coming up next week against Telford, North Ferriby and Southport. If they finish sixth or seventh in the play offs, then they will be away in the qualifying round to the fourth or fifth placed club the following midweek.
