West Auckland stayed in third place in the ENL First Division when they beat Seaham Red Star 2-1 last night.

After a quiet first half, West took the lead on 52 minutes when Ross Colquhoun and Anthony Bell set up Adam Mitchell, who fired home, but Seaham levelled soon after when the West defence let Alex Ramshaw in to score.

But West back in front on 65 minutes when the Seaham keeper missed a corner, and Dan Parker headed home.

Newton Aycliffe lost 1-0 at home to Jarrow Roofing, the winner scored by their former player Dennis Knight seven minutes from the end.

The result means that they are now three points behind fourth bottom Bishop Auckland with a game in hand. Bishops are at home to Sunderland RCA tonight.

Marske United are now 13 points behind leaders Morpeth with eight games in hand after they comfortably won 5-0 at Washington.

Craig Gott put them into the lead after 4 minutes from the penalty spot, and Curtis Round headed the second after 15 minutes. Gott made it 3-0 on 20 minutes with a free kick. Mikey Roberts scored the fourth from close range off a rebound, and then Round fired the fifth.

In the second division, Chester-le-Street twice came back from a goal down to draw 2-2 with Jarrow, but Crook were beaten by a stoppage time goal at Whickham.
