Spennymoor manager Jason Ainsley has told his players that they must keep working hard in their top five clash against Bradford Park Avenue at the Horsfall Stadium today.

Moors go into the game on the back of a great run of results, which has seen them pick up seven points out of the last nine, and put them neatly into fourth place in the table, four points behind third placed Brackley, but more importantly five points ahead of eighth placed Stockport.

As usual, Ainsley isn’t getting carried away by his side’s form, and said; “People are talking about play offs, but we’ve only just gone past the halfway mark of the season in terms of fixtures.

“We must keep working hard in matches, because nothing comes easy to you in this league. We need to cement our position in the top half of the table.”

Today’s game kicks off at 1.30pm because Bradford’s floodlights were damaged in one of the early winter storms, and Ainsley is hoping his team adapts to the early start.

“It seems a strange thing to say, but we’re used to 3pm kick offs on Saturday, and a 1.30 kick off might knock us out of synch. So we need to change our routine slightly, we’ll need to set off earlier and have lunch earlier. But I’m sure the lads will be fine.

“We beat Bradford 3-0 at our place earlier in the season, but they were the better side. We beat them because we scored three goals in the space of five minutes. They are a really good footballing side, and they’ve had some good wins recently to put them close to us.

“We’ve got a couple of reports on them, one of which mentions the heavy pitch, so our team selection might have to take that into consideration. “ Defender Kallum Griffiths is doubtful with a groin injury, while centre half Joe Tait is struggling with a virus.

Meanwhile, Moors’ FA Trophy tie against Gainsborough has been re-arranged for Tuesday, which means that the AFC Telford United game will have to be re-arranged.
