Spennymoor Town manager Jason Ainsley has warned that their away game at Leamington won’t be easy on Saturday afternoon.

Moors are on top form going into the game in Warwickshire, having inflicted a first away defeat of the season on Harrogate Town last week thanks to a terrific performance at the Brewery Field to keep them fourth in the table, but Ainsley has warned his players not to take anything for granted against their fifth from bottom opponents.

Leamington are currently fifth bottom of the table and have the second worst home record in the league of just two wins and a draw from their nine home games so far, but Ainsley points out; “They’re a side who are improving all the time, their manager was manager of the month for this division last month for the way they climbed up the table.

“We need to keep the good performances going,” he said.

“We were excellent last week, all the players that we used in the Harrogate game were at the top of their game. They know that if they lose their shirt in the starting eleven, then they will find it difficult to get back into the team.

“But what the players have to remember, is that it is no good performing like that against Harrogate, then letting their standards drop. It is one of those games in which if we’re not at our best, then we’re in danger of losing.”

Midfielder Shane Henry and striker Glen Taylor are both doubtful, although Ainsley is hoping that Taylor, who has ten goals to his credit this season, will be able to play.

“Glen has been excellent this season. Tommy Miller and I had a chat with him, and we told him that he was going to be our number nine.

“He’s thriving on the responsibility, and really enjoying his football. He’s got a smile on his face, is oozing confidence, and he’s causing opposing defence all sorts of problems.”
