North Ferriby 0 Spennymoor 6.

Spennymoor produced some of their best football of the season to end a run of five games without a win when they thumped North Ferriby 6-0 at Church Lane last night, with Mark Anderson scoring a hat trick.

Moors manager Jason Ainsley made four changes to last Saturday’s team, two of them in his defence. Jordan Porter came in for Dan Lowson in goal, and Chris Mason replaced James Curtis in the centre of defence, with Jamie Chandler and David Foley also returning in place of Andy Johnson and Jake Orrell.

Ainsley got exactly the reaction he wanted, with Moors outplaying Ferriby in a one-way first half that saw them lead 4-0 at half time, with Ferriby unable to find an answer to their fast attacking play.

Moors set the mood of the night on 2 minutes when Mark Anderson turned on a throw in, ran to the edge of the box and beat Ferriby keeper Ross Durrant with a low shot, and then five minutes later they were well in control when Mason celebrated his return to the side when he headed in a corner from Mattie Dixon for the second.

Moors kept the pressure on the Ferriby defence, and on 18 minutes they were 3-0 up when Glen Taylor finished off a great move that involved some good play by David Foley and then Rob Ramshaw, who supplied the cross for Taylor to head home.

It was no surprise when Moors made it 4-0 on 32 minutes, when Anderson again showed great accuracy with a long range shot that flew past the stranded Durrant.

Ironically, Anderson was less deadly from much closer range when his effort from a Ramshaw pass was blocked by Durrant, and he also missed another chance when it seemed easier to score.

The second half was just like the first. Durrant saved Ramshaw’s lob but the keeper had no chance when Kallum Griffiths drove forward and fired home a low shot for his second goal in as many games on 50 minutes.

Moors had a penalty claim turned down when Jamie Chandler appeared to be held back, before Anderson completed his hat trick on 75 minutes when sub Graeme Armstrong sent him racing past a defender and then he coolly beat Durrant.

Another sub, Brad Fewster nearly made it 7-0 but he fired narrowly wide, but that miss was academic as the game was well won by then, with Moors recording their best away win for several years.

Moors: Porter, Griffiths, Tait, Mason, Chantler, Dixon, Chandler, Ramshaw (sub Fewster 59), Anderson, Foley, Taylor (sub Armstrong 71).

Subs: Curtis, Lowson, Johnson.
